Probably one of the best backstreet pubs in Portsmouth. Imagine The Jockey from TVs Shameless and you won't go far wrong.
Came here as was going to the Guildhall to see a concert. All the pubs in the vicinity were jam packed so thought we'd check this place out. Very friendly bar staff and the regulars all nodded and gave us a hello too. Well worth a visit and glad we did.
1-3 Surrey St, City Centre, Portsmouth PO1 1JT, UK – 023 9282 0660
Staff are all very friendly, including management. There are a few regulars who are all very nice too, so there isn't that feeling of intruding into a locals pub. Average prices - nothing to complain or write home about. Good central location too.
I came into this pub on wednesday night and the girl behind the bar very friendly and great at her job, this drunk who clearly should have gone home hours before well she was very nice towards me with his pathetic abuse. Nice staff is good 👌😁

Dark and cosy pub managing to maintain a pub feel even though there is a separate dining area within the pub. Friendly attentive staff with the best value beer to be found in old Portsmouth, elsewhere you will pay over the top. Here I found HSB at £4. Further down the road you will pay much more.
Nice food. I had the Sunday lunch option with chicken and ham pie plus potatoes, veg and Yorkshire pudding. Couldn't fault it. The pie was dense with chicken and ham and everything else was cooked well and delicious. Booking on a busy Sunday is advised.

Fab place. Very nice friendly staff. Lovely & modern inside, with great background music played via sonos sound system throughout & including the restrooms. I liked it that the menu was small but a great choice. The food here was lovely & the choice of cheese on the cheese board was superb. Would recommend trying this place out for a nice Sunday lunch.
a great chilled sunday was spent here. It looks nothing from the outside but when you walk in its buzzing. Excellent roasts executed perfectly. Nice decor, friendly staff, chilled sounds, excellent food. A nice little find. We will be back!

The best restaurant in the region, let alone the city. The food is exceptional with a great wine list. The staff are very friendly and helpful with a warm welcome from the proprietor. Unfortunately, we don't visit quite as often as we'd like but the consistency of the whole experience remains excellent throughout the years. Thoroughly recommended.
Food is excellent but a little bit overpriced in my opinion. Beer is £5 for a small glass. Small glass of coke £3. This coke was flat and I reckon it came from a larger bottle, not even a slice of lemon. Small tea or coffee £3.95. 3 course meal £43

Been here many times. The food and staff are excellent. Go early for 5 tapas n bottle of wine for £25 excellent value. The main dishes also well priced and always very good.
One of my favourite places. Busy and buzzing in the evening and great for leisurely lunch and chat over coffee during the day. A great and friendly place.

Went with some friends when visiting the area, decided to go for the all you can eat option which made it an excellent value for money on this ocassion. The staff were friendly, welcoming and the food was actually really good. Definitely suitable for families and parties of 8 (my group size) if they have the space.
I had a hot pot meal with my friends yesterday which is fantastic. You have a lot of choices and the services pretty quick and nice. I would like recommend to my friends. Well done.

Delicious food and very good staff. Would highly recommend it. Very glad we came here.
Great food, quick service-nice staff-recommended

We have to agree on the long wait for food. Having read reviews, we timed it. Cucumber and trimmings for duck arrived, and 20 MINUTES later the duck and pancakes. This despite some chivvying at the 15 minute mark. Assurances this would not be repeated, then a 16-minute wait between plates cleared and main course. We noticed high priority was given to takeaway orders. The owner, Albert Choi, never seems to reply to reviews. Perhaps he disregards them... I should add - the food was very good.
A lovely, family owned business. The owner, Albert, always welcomes us in and the rest of his staff are polite. The food can be expensive, however the set menus are a good, affordable option. The dishes we ordered were very nice, and I would recommend the smoked chicken as an appetiser - it was delicious!

Pleasant enough curry house but nothing special or particularly memorable
Good food - a little expensive but great choice and good quality - nice interior too.

My family have been going to this restaurant for over 40 years when my mum was first teaching my dad to drive and her reward was to get an indian meal half way through the ordeal. We've been back many, many times and it's consistently excellent. Great sized portions, soooo tasty and good value. The service is exemplary. We' ve known the one great uncle since the 70's, though sadly he's retired from service now. Thank you for doing such a great job, and we look forward to future visits at our favourite indian restaurant. I'd have no hesitation to recommend this place to anyone.
Best curry house in Pompey and long established. Always welcoming. I've been coming here since a child. Great curry house.

We went there in a group of 12 people for a birthday dinner. There was only another couple having dinner at the same time. Staff could be more friendly. Got us the wrong drinks and acted as if it was our fault. I don’t think the restaurant is a proper Italian one. They serve lasagna with chips, for example... It’s kind of a “Britishised Italian”. Fair price, but you can find better in the area for the same price range.
Service nice but a bit slow. We were there two and half hours for two courses, table of ten - we were the only table there. Desserts were probably the highlight - they all seemed homemade and good quality. Didn't like seeing the chef coming into the restaurant and drinking beer. Roast dinners went down well. Mine and my partners burgers weren't great. Pasta was fine. One in the group had a basic chicken dish and said the chicken was wet; I imagine precooked and reheated in water/brine. Comfortable but an odd atmosphere, may have just been the time of day we were there though. Think they'd benefit from a promotiona or early bird menu for between 3-5pm as the prices were a bit too high for what it was.

Great food, great people ,great atmosphere. Unfortunately i have to give sopranos one star i haven't forgot what the Italians did in world war 2. Rule Britannia.
Great little Italian restaurant. Certainly advised to book. Great food, excellent service, friendly staff. Very good value for money.

Been here 4 times now. Each time we've loved the food and the price is reasonable. 3 courses plus a soft drink each is usually around £20-£25 a head. The only let down, which unfortunately is a big one, is the customer service. There's a couple of staff here that need a customer service course, was disappointed by how miserable they can seem sometimes. Yet the visit before we had a different group of servers that were the complete opposite and even took the time to teach us how they fold the napkins. On the whole, great food, great prices, mixed experiences with certain staff members. Will certainly visit again though.
Delicious food. Authentic. Reasonable prices generous portions. Lovely attentive staff. From outside you will not think the food is going to be so good. Go in!!

Fab food. Happened to stop and decided to try them out. Loved the fresh wholesome food and the Booch. Tasty and so good to find plant based food. Great service, friendly, happy and very clean. Definitely will be back.
Very friendly helpful people! Am amazing range of products available and delicious healthy food cooked on premises. Recommended!

Don’t think about it just go! Never had even an average meal here.... food is always wonderful and take there advice on which wine . Always busy but your never rushed. Great atmosphere.
Wonderful family meal last night. Amazing tasty food, something for everyone on the menu and the service was brilliant. (Thank you to "Curly" for looking after my Dad so well on his 83rd birthday by bringing out a cake and singing Happy Birthday!) Really recommend this little jewel of a restaurant in Southsea. I have been here many times and have always had a fabulous meal. Thank you Agora and all your lovely staff x

Amazing dining experience for special occasions! I'd had a few recommendation for this restaurant and thought I would check it out for myself. maître d greeted us as soon as we walked through the door. Restaurant had simplistic yet modern interior with a high end look. We choose from the £45, 8 course menu. Each dish complemented the next perfectly. Menu utilizes many different flavors and textures. All the food came out hot and well presented plus each dish had its own unique plate-ware. It's great to see a restaurant in Portsmouth producing this caliber of high end gastronomy.
Fantastic food, fantastic service. Really enjoyed the whole experience - the food was delicious and varied, but there were also little things like having people remember which wine was being switched to at which course. Rare to find that, but much appreciated.

Great little bar with lots of drinks options. The cocktails list is epic and lots of great options. There is a quiz fortnightly which is really good, one of the better ones we have been too. The staff are lovely and great to chat too. One of the better bars on Palmerston road
Cool little cocktail bar situated on Palmerston Road. Some seating out the front. Varied drinks menu with special offers on certain drinks. Staff are friendly and courteous. Drinks reasonably priced.

Delicious food and cocktails in a beautiful cosy restaurant. The lovely gentlemen who served us tonight were very friendly and attentive and all in all this made for a very enjoyable evening. We will be back!
41-47 Albert Rd, Portsmouth PO5 2SF, UK – 023 9286 4712
A well established pub along Albert Road which offers food and drink. The drink on offer is extensive and even includes a separate "Beer Vaults" for the craft beer lovers. Prices are reasonable and in keeping with the area. Food here is good; they offer small plates, regular meals (pub favourites) and pizzas from the pizza oven upstairs.
It maybe a Fullers pub but it's got an independent feel & has one of the best craft beer selections in the city. The staff are helpful & knowledgeable, especially Tim.
